FAQ

Everything you need to know about Ranked.

How It Works

What is Ranked?+
Ranked is a league tracker for racket sports. Create a club, invite your crew, log matches, and watch your ratings evolve over time. It works for pickleball, padel, tennis, and more.
How do I get started?+
If someone shared a link with you, tap it to join their club. Otherwise, sign up and create your own club — add players, run a session or log a match, and you're off.
What is a session?+
A session is a real-time group play — like a weekly game night. The admin starts a session, logs matches as they happen, and everyone can see standings, matchups, and ratings update in real time. When it's over, everyone gets a recap with highlights.
What is the randomizer?+
The randomizer automatically generates court assignments for doubles play. It shuffles players into balanced teams across courts for each round so everyone plays with different partners.
How do I share an event preview or recap?+
On any upcoming event, tap the share button to send a preview card to your group chat — it shows top players, rivalries, and win streaks to build hype. After an event ends, the Recap tab has a share button that generates a highlights card with standings, MVP, biggest upset, and more. Both work with iMessage, WhatsApp, and any app that supports sharing.

Ratings & Scoring

How do ratings work?+
Every player starts at 1500. When you win, your rating goes up. When you lose, it goes down. The amount depends on the strength of your opponent — beating a higher-rated player earns you more points, while losing to a lower-rated player costs you more. Over time, ratings converge to reflect true skill.
What is reliability?+
New players have a “reliability” percentage shown on their profile. It starts at 0% and reaches 100% after about 20 matches. During this period, a new player's rating moves faster to help them find their true level quickly. Once you hit 100%, your rating stabilizes.
Do draws affect ratings?+
Yes. In a draw, both players' ratings adjust slightly toward each other. The favored player loses a small amount and the underdog gains a small amount.
What are the rank tiers?+
◆ Diamond — 1700+◆ Platinum — 1600–1699◆ Gold — 1525–1599◆ Silver — 1475–1524◆ Bronze — 1400–1474◆ Iron — Below 1400

Leagues

What's the difference between a session and a league?+
A session is a single night of play — log matches as they happen and everyone gets a recap when it's done. A league is a structured competition that runs over time: a schedule, standings that build week to week, and (for most formats) a playoff bracket to crown a champion.
What league formats can I run?+
MLP-style team leagues — drafted squads, four-game matchups, DreamBreaker tiebreaker.3v3 team leagues — three-player squads with partner rotation.Round-robin — everyone plays everyone.Group stage + playoff — groups feed a knockout bracket.Weekly drop-in — recurring open sessions.King of the Court — winners stay, challengers rotate in (coming soon).Pick the format when you create the league.
What's an MLP-style team league?+
Modeled on Major League Pickleball. Each team drafts a squad, then every matchup plays four doubles games — women's, men's, and two mixed. Captains set strategic lineups each matchup, and if it ends 2-2 a DreamBreaker decides it. The playoff bracket auto-cascades to a champion.
What's a DreamBreaker?+
The tiebreaker in an MLP-style matchup. If the four games split 2-2, each team sends its four players out in a singles ladder (race to 21, win by 2). The first team to reach the target takes the whole matchup.
How do playoffs and brackets work?+
When the regular season wraps, generate a single-elimination bracket seeded from the standings. It works for any team count — the top seeds get byes if needed. Log a result and the winner advances automatically, round by round, until a champion is crowned.
Who can create a league?+
Any club admin. Members and co-admins can follow standings, their team, and their matchups, but creating and managing leagues is admin-only. Leagues are free for every club right now.
